We Set Sail

WROTE MOST OF THIS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE LEAVING B.A. - JAN 6

We had a leisurely morning this morning.  We had breakfast at the hotel (one of their yummy yogourt parfaits), then went to our rooms and packed up.  We sat in this corner every morning.  The patio was just outside, but in blazing sun.

This was outside our hotel.  A little hard to read here, but it's the Mirada Soho Hotel & Wine Bar.  The whole time we were here, we had to walk behind a barrier to get to the hotel as they were doing construction on our little street.

At 11 we were ready to go.  We needed to find a Farmacia so I could get some "Tum-like" antacids (interesting trying to communicate that to the pharmacist who didn't speak English - we rubbed our stomachs, etc., and got the message across.  Gerard and Dan went to look for an ATM (not plentiful).  But we finally found both.

On the way, we finally got a picture of a dog-walker.  We've seen a few of these - mostly students who do this as a part-time job.

We caught a taxi to the cruise ship terminal, and after an hour or so going through the process, we finally boarded our ship, the Norwegian Sun, around 1:30.  Giant thing, but they said it was the smallest in their fleet!  I'll try to get a good picture of it at another port.  There was no good spot to get one here, in Buenos Aires.

We found our state rooms.  Dan & Joanne did an upgrade so they're in a suite at the back on the 8th floor.  We have a room with a balcony about mid-ship on the 10th floor.  We got oriented as to where things were on the ship, wandering around for some time.  Our suitcases finally arrived and we unpacked to stay awhile.

We went to Dan & Joanne's suite and shared a bottle of champagne there before getting ready to head off to dinner in the dining room.

We started moving out of port while at dinner, heading to Montevideo, Uruguay.  It's just across the bay, but as I write this this morning, we're not quite there yet.  As we get closer to shore, I seem to be able to get cell service.  Hopefully this applies to every port of call.

After dinner, we took in the showcase entertainment at the theatre.  Gotta love black lights - reminds me of my teen years at the First Hotel.
